Drainage catheter
Drainage catheters are usually flexible tubes made of silicone or polyurethane material. It is inserted into the body through a small incision or natural body opening and directed to the area where fluid needs to be drained. The catheter may have a side hole or balloon at the tip to facilitate drainage. It is usually connected to a collection bag, vacuum system, or other liquid removal device. The catheter can be left in place temporarily or tunneled under the skin for long-term drainage.
